I have come to the place in my life that, if the assignment I sense God is giving me is something that I know I can handle, I know it is probably not from God. The kind of assignments God gives in the Bible are always God-sized.
They are always beyond what people can do, because He wants to demonstrate His nature, His strength, His provision, and His kindness to His people and to a watching world.
This is the only way the world will come to know Him. - Henry Blackaby

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

You have the right to....
Be a son or daughter of God the Father.
Be a blessing.
Be a vessel of honor.
Be the answer to someone's prayers.
Be a solution to the problem.
Be more like Jesus.
Be a natural and tangible demonstration of the supernatural.
Spend yourself on behalf of the poor, widows and orphans.
Thursday I drove to OC to help get things ready for IMPACT. Arriving at 1:30am and not able to sleep set me back a few.... Friday Jim Lingg came out and we got started on a video project that we hope will help the YFC crew in kickin it up a notch!
I have to say I have seen IMPACT really grow deep over the last 4 years I have been going. It is obvious that all the prayer and hard work has made this a world class experience for kids to have an encounter with God.
It is cool to get to be a part of it.

Today (Saturday) after a seminar session and visiting with boatloads of people I haven't seen in a while, I drove back to Bmore.... While I was in OC Katy was at home working with Dave on the CD and then visited 2 of our favorite people Marlene and Bethany Yeo... They are in town and the greater DC Balto area is better when they are present!Tonight we drove to York to get ready for Katy to lead worship at Cityview tomorrow.

Crazy right!

But I am realizing that God has given us a great life and great opportunities. It is amazing because we have slowed things down to know Him. To dwell with Him and be. Yet it seems as if He is doing more with us now than ever. - Interesting how that works.

As if that is not good enough, we get to live the life He is leading us in with people that we love and have fun with. Its a groovy kind of love....

Pray for Boston!

Last week I returned from a wild weekend in New England.

We were scheduled to do a Generation Conference in Lowell, but 2 months ago it changed when Lou Engle began plans to open up a House of Prayer in Boston.

We forwent the conference and joined what God was doing, and it was an incredible weekend.
On Saturday night hundreds of young people gathered in Lowell for a rally while Pastor Jude Fouquier ministered. New England doesn’t typically have Youth Rallies with hundreds of people.

Sunday we went from Church to Street Church to a gathering in Boston.
This gathering was brought together, I believe, by God. - It was one of the biggest gathering of Christian students at Harvard since Jonathan Edwards and the Great Awakening.

There were University Students from MIT, Boston U. Harvard and other major schools from the region. Between 250 and 300 students were commissioned and ordained to go back to their campus to live Holy and begin to aggressively reach out their peers. Some will even plant churches within the next 6 weeks.

I also spoke with a Pastor from Salem, MA where they took over a house that was used as a whitch’s home and store. This will now become a house of prayer!

New England is such an important key to our nation. It is the cradle of our nation as well as, a stronghold.

Lou and his JHOP will continue in 40 days of 24/7 prayer and fasting called the UPRISING.
Then Bethany will establish a Justice House of Prayer in Boston.

Please pray for this area. Something is happening in that region.
Pray for Marlene and Somebody Cares New England (WWW.SOMEBODYCARESNE.ORG) as they continue to gather groups to serve the elderly, youth and homeless.

Also pray for us as we prepare to return there for a Chain Reaction Weekend May 5th & 6th and then again this Sunday for a Chain Reaction Week, July 16th – 22nd.

It is a season to engage in prayer. - Please join us!
A New Generation?

This morning we visited our friends Pastor George and Martha Carr at Pleasant Hill Chapel. It was a great morning as they celebrated George's 23rd year at PHC.

He brought up how the young people have been called Generation X and Generation Y and asked me to lead the congregation in prayer. At that point I leaned over to my wife Katy and mentioned that the only other place the letters of X & Y are used is in describing DNA code. That brought me to think about conception of something new.
In America there is a desperate cry from young people for their identity. The pop culture capitalizes on this issue of hopelessness and makes billions of those who seek the culture for their individuality. It is interesting that over the last couple decades the terms of Generation X and Generation Y have been used to generically label an age group. The truth is that whether is was intended to or not, it has marred young people helpless.
Katy and I live our lives to change that. It is our deepest desire to see an army of people who have begin to walk in their destiny because of their increased relationship with Christ. When people grow in their passion for God there will be an evident fruit of compassion for Man.
It is the most important thing Jesus said to do and isn't really new. But if it became a lifestyle of the Americans who call themselves Christians, it would be a genuine revolution across our land.
A generation who lives to love and serve... - Think about it.
How would that change your community?

The Uprising

The Uprising
Last weekend was an amazing weekend that is somewhat overwhelming me. Just a few short months ago, we, along with Marlene Yeo and the Somebody Cares NE crew were working diligently on having a Generations Conference in Lowell, MA.
Around that same time something started surfacing and as a result Lou Engle and Bethany Yeo announced a very special project in Boston.
The Uprising is a period of forty days of prayer and fasting. There is a call going out for university students to give up their Spring Breaks and come. This will eventually result in a JHOP (Justice House of Prayer)
Since all of this was surfacing and seemed to be what God was doing, Marlene and Pastor Najem decided to forgo the Conference until next year and join up with what was taking place in Boston. This would mean that I wouldn't be teaching or leading, however I would still go and see where I could serve.
On Saturday evening we had a youth service at CCF and the place was poppin'. Sunday morning we made a small tour where Pastor Jude spoke at CCF, then he came to Street Church, then to a convergence time of ministry. Sunday night I experienced something that I believe is going to begin a change across our nation. Some are bold enough to believe it to be Third Great Awakening Hundreds of students gathered from Harvard, MIT, Boston U. and other campuses. They were commissioned and ordained to go back and live Holy while reaching their campus aggressively with the Gospel. It blew my doors off. I have high hopes that some would write off. But I believe that there is something that is moving in our nation and it is starting with prayer and compassion.

What I learned was that though we make plans, if we let God guide our footsteps, He will do more than we can think or imagine. There is a need to have an infrastructure and plan, however, that can never be at the expense of being sensitive to what God wants to do and flow with it.
thank you for your flexibility and love for God Marlene Yeo!!! -

There is an UPRISING happening in New England!

Caleb's Promise

As I read about who Caleb was in the Bible and even saw how my son Cub lived out his life, I am really able to connect their lives to Jesus' when it says that He came to serve and not be served.

This is what Caleb's Promise really boils down to. As Cub's dad the last thing I want to do is over exaggerate how Caleb lived. Rather I believe we are to use the opportunity life gives us to celebrate and create opportunities to serve. There are many young people who live the "Backwards Life" and live a servant lifestyle. I believe that should be celebrated.

Living in Baltimore my hearts breaks when every other newscast exploits the crime and even murder that teens are doing in our communities. Though those things do take place, when will we see people take the responsibility to promote and celebrate the life we have and the privilege to serve?
As messed up as I am or as you are, God still chooses to use us to bless and help other people. Its is like we are these old, beat up lanterns that carry this super bright light.

Caleb's Promise is about understanding and engaging in the right to be a blessing. When there is a need, we help. When there is a problem, we become part of the solution.
Maybe being able to help others and doing a good job is our inheritance?
Could that be our destiny and what God has promised!

Check out Caleb's Promise!!!
